HXExpeditions, the world’s oldest expedition cruise company, today announced the introduction of its new fleet livery colours in its brand colours of ‘Indigo Blue’ and ‘Sand’, marking a key milestone in the continued evolution of its standalone brand.
This new chapter follows the initial HX brand launch in December 2023 and signals the final stages of a transformative rebranding journey as HX officially separated last month from its Norwegian heritage sister brand of Hurtigruten. The new livery colour palette takes inspiration from marine wildlife with colours such as ‘Pearl, Sand and Arctic White.’ The iconic red and black colours previously used by the Hurtigruten Group have long been associated with the heritage sister brand of Hurtigruten, which will continue to use those colours and will remain unchanged. This new visual identity for HX introduces a distinct and modern look and ensures that guests won’t get confused in places like Norway where the two brands will still co-exist.

The acquisition of Hurtigruten Group has been completed by a consortium of investors.
The closing of the deal also concludes the separation of Hurtigruten from Hurtigruten Expeditions Holdings Ltd which were previously part of one corporate group.
The Consortium is made up of existing investors led by Arini Capital Management, AlbaCore Capital and Barings.
A long-term capital investment of approximately €400 million will enable Hurtigruten to continue exploring future growth and development.
The company has been offering Norway coastal cruises for 131 years.
Hedda Felin, Hurtigruten CEO said, “Today, we have new owners, and we have put in place a very solid foundation for Hurtigruten's future growth and development.”
“With the completion of this transaction, Hurtigruten is once again a company focusing exclusively on its two core tasks as a coastal express operator and provider of cruise experiences.”
Hurtigruten says demand remains strong for Nordic coastal cruises.
At the end of 2024, advance bookings for 2025 and 2026 were significantly higher than 2024 and 2025 advance bookings were at the end of 2023.
Hurtigruten will be headquartered in Oslo, Norway and will own and operate 10 ships under the Norwegian flag.
The transaction completion will not affect Hurtigruten’s customer bookings, employment terms or day-to-day operations.

Hurtigruten Expeditions (HX) is about to get new owners.
A consortium of investors including Arini Capital Management and Cyrus Capital Partners are set to acquire the expedition cruise brand.
The deal, for an undisclosed sum, is expected to be completed in early 2025.
HX was spun off from the Norwegian Hurtigruten coastal cruising line to create two separate entities.
When the acquisition is complete, HX will get a €140 million war chest to fund growth.
The acquisition will signal another ‘exciting phase’ for HX, the consortium said.
“It will have the resources and strategic support to expand its offerings with adventures to northern and southern Polar expeditions and trips to the Galapagos Islands,” it said.
“The acquisition also allows the company to continue its investment into a fleet of industry-leading ships.”
Current CEO Gebhard Rainer will remain at the helm.
Torben Geisler of Arini Capital Management, said: “This is the start of an exciting new growth phase for HX. We believe HX is poised to continue to build market share, and the group of investors is committed to providing the backing needed.”
Expedition cruise company HX has announced the launch of ‘HX Explorers’, its first standalone dynamic loyalty programme.
HX Explorers will offer various exclusive benefits and rewards starting in November.
The new loyalty programme has two tiers: Level 1 – for those about to sail, and Level 2 for those who have sailed more than three nights.

HX (Hurtigruten Expeditions) has agreed a partnership with Ocean Bottle, a social impact and reusable water bottle brand.
The initiative, launching ahead of World Oceans Day is part of HX’s aim to be the most sustainable expedition cruise company
It became the first cruise line to ban single-use plastics back in 2018.
Every guest on an HX expedition cruise will receive a complimentary reusable Ocean Bottle, which funds the collection of 1,000 plastic bottles in weight.
“We are thrilled to embark on this journey with Ocean Bottle," said Stefan Engl, VP Hotel Operations.
"Together, we recognise the urgent need to protect our oceans and combat the pervasive issue of plastic pollution in marine environments. “
Collectors exchange plastic for money and get access to social resources such as healthcare, education and financial security.
So far, Ocean Bottle has collected 14,164,500 kilograms of plastic via its partner: grassroots organisations in countries such as Indonesia, India and Ghana.
This is the equivalent to one billion plastic bottles in weight.
HX's ocean conservation initiatives include regular beach cleanups and supporting critical research through its Science & Education program.
HX's onboard Science & Education teams, alongside guests, help record invaluable data to support global research efforts.

Hurtigruten, the iconic leader in Norwegian coastal voyages, has extended its unique Northern Lights Promise to September, allowing travelers to experience one of the world’s most natural wonders for an even longer period.
Hurtigruten has long been synonymous with the best of Norway's natural wonders, and in a commitment to ensuring guests have the best possible chance of experiencing the Aurora, the company has extended its Northern Lights Promise to start in mid-September rather than October.
The policy extension will allow thousands of guests to feel more confident experiencing the phenomenon that is on many travelers’ bucket lists, reaffirming Norway as the ultimate destination to witness this awe-inspiring natural phenomenon.
Having sailed the Norwegian coastline for more than 130 years, no company does Norway better than Hurtigruten, which is why the company has extended its acclaimed Northern Lights Promise, which it was the first-ever cruise line to offer. The policy provides guests with a second chance guarantee to see the lights if they do not occur within sight of the ship during a voyage of 11 days or more.
