Sri Lanka mulls privatising national airline

Sri Lanka’s plan to privatise its national flag carrier SriLankan Airlines has garnered positive reaction from economists, although few believe it is likely in the short term, given current economic conditions.
New Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe this week announced a decision to sell off the loss-making airline.
Analysts agree privatisation is essential but question how much interest there will be in buying it unless the government agrees to write off some or all existing debt.
