There is no better time than spring to experience the unique charms of Glenwood Springs, Colorado’s favorite hot springs hot spot.

It’s the season for adventure and there is no shortage of exciting kid-friendly experiences.

Here are the top tips on traveling with kids that will keep the smiles wide and energy high.

Road trip entertainment

Get the crew in a road-trip state of mind with in-car games. Keep them entertained with classic on-the-go activities like the license plate game, slug bug spotting, and “I Spy” with a Colorado wildlife twist. Keep an eye out for the bighorn sheep in Glenwood Canyon.

Refreshing root beer

Glenwood Canyon Brewpub is best known for its craft beers, but the real star for kids is the house-made root beer. It’s creamy, delicious, and served in frosty souvenir mugs. Of course, parents can still enjoy a pint of their choice. Pub standards include Hanging Lake Light, Crystal River Helles, Vapor Cave IPA, and St. James Irish Red. Cheers to family fun.

A ride on the wild side

Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park is home to sublime views and thrilling rides, with an all-inclusive Funday ticket, take unlimited turns on the Alpine Coaster. During your visit be sure to take a guided cave tour too.

Hot springs & cold plunges

Who says relaxation can’t also be exhilarating? Glenwood’s geothermal attractions offer a mix of soothing soaks and invigorating cold plunges. Iron Mountain Hot Springs lets parents and kids relax in multiple mineral pools and cool off in the family-friendly freshwater pool. The truly brave will be drawn to the outdoor showers and cold plunges. At Glenwood Hot Springs Pool, make a splash in the enormous warm water outdoor pool, then take a dip in the Yampah Mineral Pools. The newest addition to the historic hot spring resort includes two chilly cold plunges.

Spring skiing

Ski season is in full swing. Spring skiing at Sunlight Mountain Resort is a refreshingly affordable family-friendly adventure with plenty of groomed runs, a terrain park, and an easygoing vibe. The panoramic vistas from the summit are some of the best in the state. The base lodge is centrally located (perfect for snack breaks), while the lift lines are short and the parking is always free.

Burgers, pizza & tacos

Looking for delicious, kid-friendly, no-fuss eats? In Glenwood Springs, you can’t go wrong with:

Burgers. For mouthwatering burgers try Vicco’s Charcoal Burger Drive-in, Underbelly Burger Co., or The Grind.

Pizza. Rocky Mountain Pizza, Russo’s, Uncle Pizza, and Za—because pizza is always a great idea.

Tacos. Slope & Hatch serves up flavor-packed tacos that are anything but ordinary.
